There are many different types, flavors, mediums and brands of protein powders currently available for purchase.  Some are from refutable, safe brands while many can be questioned for their efficacy.  How should the athlete differentiate between how much to supplement alongside his diet?  Furthermore, how do amino acids fit into this conversation, and how does it compare to the myriad choices of protein supplements?

Each Type of Protein Supplement

When browsing online or when walking the aisles of a nutrition shop, one will see many different types of protein supplements.  Whey isolate and whey concentrate look and seem similar, yet they are marketed separately.  Casein protein is an option, alongside plant-based protein supplements.  These proteins often come in powder form and can range drastically in price.

Supplementing vs. Eating

Drawbacks
